About us
This site was created and is owned by Joseph G. Buchman, PhD.
Joe has had a lifelong interest in science and technology. In 1972 he won an Indiana State science fair award from the United States air force for an exhibit on lasers and holography, which included a visit, with other science fair winners, to the Wright Patterson Air Force base.
Joe's interests in the possibility of contact with extraterrestrial life has included visits to NASA's Ames research center (home of the SETI project), as well as the Johnson Space Center (where one of his childhood dreams -- sitting in Mission Control -- was fulfilled. He has met two of the moonwalking Apollo astronauts, visited the Roswell and Aztec debris fields and been a guest on the coasttocoastam radio show.
Joe is the coauthor of Media Selling, and the author of chapters on radio and television marketing in a variety of textbooks, including his favorite, Sounds in the Dark: All-Night Radio in American Life. After serving as a tenured associate professor of marketing in Utah and a visiting associate professor of telecommunications at Indiana University, Joe retired from a successful career in fulltime university teaching in 2001 to pursue designing online MBA courses with The University of Chicago, Cardean, DeVry and Capella universities online.
Joe and his family are also avid adventure travelers. Among their favorite experiences are the Total Solar Eclipse of February 1998, the train from Beijing to Ulaanbaatar, and Tsaagan Sar in Khovd Mongolia. They are currently making plans to return to Mongolia for the 1 August 2008 total solar eclipse that will cross over the Altai mountains.
