July 1947

Of course the BIG ONE is Roswell. . Something crashed in the New Mexico ranch lands north and west of there.

If you have come to the conclusion that it was a weather (or Project Mogul) balloon, then there's nothing much to apologize for.

If not, and it was, as many suspect, one or more ET crafts that rained debris, and perhaps bodies there . . . then . . .

Imagine a neighbor of yours from across town crashed his car into a tree in your front yard. Perhaps he was severely injured and died.

What would be the civilized thing to do?

Wouldn't you try to call his family or in some way make them aware of what happened? Wouldn't you see to it that the car and its contents were returned to his family?

Instead, it seems to me that in 1947, rather than behave in anything close to even a minimally civilized way, we responded by burying the car in a tunnel in Ohio (or Nevada), trying to reverse engineer it, and dissecting the body.

I wonder how the world would be different today if, in 1947, rather than cleaning up whatever crashed there, we had put up a couple of search lights and a large "LOST AND FOUND" sign?

Instead, in 2003, the Sci-Fi Channel planted a "tombstone" there that reads:

"In July of the year 1947 a craft of unknown origin spread debris over this site. Witnesses would report materials of unearthly nature. In September of the year 2002 the Sci-Fi Channel brought scientists from the University of New Mexico to search this ground for evidence of that fateful night. Be it observed, that whatever the true nature of what has respectfully become known as the Roswell Incident, humankind has been forever drawn to the stars. Dedicated July 5, 2003.”
